Why not, is this something to do with netveda and web shield or a personal system issue?

Just so it is clear to all.....
Kerio Personal IS being discontinued.

As per the Kerio bulletin:
Kerio Technologies has grown into a significant player in both security and messaging markets. We have achieved many accolades, and we have many satisfied customers all over the world.

Kerio now employs over one hundred people in our three offices worldwide. We want to continue to deliver products that you enjoy to use. We made a promise to give our customers the best products in their category. And that means implementing some changes in our product strategy.

During the second half of this year, Kerio will be discontinuing two host-based security products from our portfolio – Kerio ServerFirewall and Kerio Personal Firewall.

Kerio Personal Firewall will be discontinued as of December 31, 2005. It will not be available for purchase after this date. Subscriptions will not be renewed. Technical support will be provided to all customers with valid subscriptions until the end of 2006.

Thank you for your support of Kerio.

Sorry but true....

I'm broken! My favourite firewall is going to GO!
Needing crisis control here! Cry

I don't want to use ZA cos their support is awful when something goes wrong (like the time an update crashed 2,000,000 computers). Yes, mine was one. Sygate's owned by The Dark Side (humour only guys!) and i could never really figure Outpost OUT so I'll be interested to learn what you think of these alternatives. Meanwhile I'll stay with Kerio until I recover from this shock.

All sympathetic messages appreciated.

I can't remember when but there was something about approved browsers for web shield to avoid conflicts with strange and exotic browsers (which may not conform to standards) that you have to optin to get them to work with web shield. Perhaps there is something like this with netveda?

@ other posts relating to switching
I can't understand why there is an immediate rush to abandon Kerio just because it has been purchased by another company.
1. it doesn't stop you using the program it will still work.
2. people can still get it up to the December deadline, so ensure you have the latest version with updates/patches, etc.
3. some are suggesting outpost 1.0 (the free version), this stopped being developed years ago, but is still available and a perfectly functioning firewall. So the same could be true of Kerio if it is a good firewall now it will be for some time, firewall exploits are not anything as frequent as browsers and OSes, etc.
4. there are plenty of other free options out there and plenty of time to choose a replacement.
