Clean, Quarantine, or Delete?

On the other hand, antivirus software can't 'clean' a worm or a trojan, because there is nothing to clean - the entire file IS the worm or trojan.

correct but i wanted to clean/repair the file that's what i mean ;) btw thx

Only true virus infection can be repaired, e.g. when a virus infects a file it adds a small part to it, provided that file is one that avast's repair routines covers, then it may be possible to repair the file to its uninfected state.

However, for the most part so called viruses, trojans (adware/spyware/malware, etc.) can't be repaired because the complete content of the file is malicious.

Steve, you could also check the other files inside the sysrep32 folder at www.virustotal.com and tell us the results.

Have you recently reinstalled or repair installed XP as sysprep is where windows temporarily stows the files for an unattended installation

I just updated WinXp yesterday, i even updated everything... Browser, Java, OpenOffice, Flash Player etc...
Then i made a system Backup using Lenovo OneKey Recovery.
When i finished i installed Avast and detected the virus!

Sysprep is no longer required after the repair/update etc has been done so it can be placed in the recycle bin.. Reboot to confirm it is no longer needed then delete
