virus check up
« on: March 24, 2013, 05:41:39 PM »
hey, my computer keeps on not being able to update avast, tried reinstalling about 10 times and reinstalled win8 for the 9th time, inspite of wiping my drive alotta times, malwarebytes is ok, the problem is avast keeps on saying connection terminated, I tried updating from the control panel "uninstall programs" and I checked for new versions there it displays the latest updates parallel to the latest database but on the UI avast itself reads not updated to the latest database just shows the same old database not updated and just not being able to update when I try to would just not go further or just stays still...anyway long story short I am checking for any viruses or drive errors a full system check up as I would call what are the logs to be assisted, I will be running the scans on my system, usb, ph all my devices
thankyou  :)

Hi there I can see no sign of Avast being installed at all on your system

Lets reinstall Avast

Download aswClear to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

  • Boot to Safe Mode.
    • Restart the computer.
    • As soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode with Networking menu item
    • Press Enter.
  • Run aswClear
  • In the Select Product to Uninstall dropdown choose the version of Avast that is on your system.

  • Press Uninstall
  • Once complete reboot your system to Normal Mode
  • Reinstall Avast
