Weird Acronyms [DONE]
« on: September 21, 2013, 04:52:49 PM »
So I play a game called War Thunder and in the launcher it has a bunch of different download styles unfortunately they're all in acronyms. Here are the ones I wanted to know about UTP and DHT I also want to know what it's doing while it's peer exchanging and tracker exchanging.

Just did... It's P2P transfer things. Meaning I've been using it for a few months. I dislike ANY sort of Peer to Peer transfers because of how easy it is to break it and send a small piece of malicious code through it. My computer was checked yesterday so I'm sure my computer is fine but jeeze.

If you want to make sure it's still clean post the logs. Adwcleaner/MBAM/OTL/AswMBR.

@ YelloFox,
You seem to be asking a different question almost daily.
Simply doing a Google search would have answered almost all of these question for you. :)
Remember, Google is your friend. If you can't get a satisfactory answer there or by doing a search
on this forum, then please post your question. :)

Alan I'm not that worried. It hasn't updated for a while now meaning no P2P connections have been made after yesterday. So I know I'm clean. If I see anything odd I'll check it myself unless I absolutely feel that I need help. Also bob it's partially because I'm not sure of the websites I can trust.

Then either trust in the fact that avast! is checking the sites you visit or, use some of the tools found on this forum
to check websites for safety before actually visiting a website.
Polonus constantly posts new tools he finds. :)

Well as it stands I use Virus Total to check sites. Usually I'm hesitant to go to a site if it even has one detection. But anyways this is wrapped up so thanks for the advice.

website that has just been hacked and injected With malware will not show on VT, that only Works on website that has been bad for some time and are listed on some blocklist

so for infected websites you have to trust avast webshield
