Web Shield and EagleGet downloader
« on: January 31, 2014, 11:13:09 PM »
When I am using EagleGet to download some big files from 180Upload,BillionUploads or Movreel,AvastSvc.exe uses 20-30% of CPU
and Web Shield is scanning the same URL thousands of times. Also,Avast system tray icon is constantly spinning.
There is no problem if I am downloading YouTube videos. Also, there is no problem with DownThemAll probably because it is a Firefox add-on.
Why is Web Shield scanning the same URL over and over again when I am using EagleGet ?
Do I need to change something in the Web Shield settings?

What are the specs of your computer? Does not occur on any of my systems (see my sig below). You may want to set webshield on default settings.

Open avast>settings>active protection>webshield gear icon>web scanning.
Select "Scan selected file types only." Click ok on all opened settings windows.
DESKTOP: Win 10, Avast 20 Free, Windows firewall, Malwarebytes free

LAPTOP: Win 10, Windows Defender, Malwarebytes free, Windows Firewall, Mcshield

I've noticed that there is a problem with DownThemAll also.
At the beginning of downloading AvastSvc.exe uses 30% of CPU for around 2-3 minutes. After that AvastSvc.exe uses
around 3% of CPU.
Also, there is no problem when downloading YouTube videos with DownthemAll.
What is wrong with Web Shield and download managers ?
Only things I've changed in Web Shield settings are heuristic (normal) and I checked PUP.
