Virus Chest?
« on: July 13, 2010, 07:02:14 AM »
Hello, this is my first post here on Avast!  ;D  But, I have a question. If Avast! finds a virus, and it puts the virus in the virus chest, is that safe? Can the virus still be activated? Can someone give me some info about the virus chest? Thanks!

The virus chest / quarantine is a virus prison. and is totally safe

So if Avast finds a virus, I should put it in the virus chest? What about a PUP, or suspicious?

Suspicious means that the file is not yet classified, it may be clean it may be malware it may be PUP, needs more analysis
PUP = (potentially unwanted program) http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/sDefinition/0,,sid14_gci1066761,00.html
not all virusprograms scan for PUP and avast has it turned of by defult. This is more for the malware programs like Malwarebytes / superantispyware / ad-aware.......
