VC80CRTRedist
« on: October 03, 2013, 10:18:55 PM »
In reviewing the tools of cCleaner I see this VC80CRTRedist program on my Dell D620 laptop running XP. Can you tell me what this is and if I should use cCleaner tools to uninstall it, or maybe something stronger/

Thanks

If you uninstall it Avast will stop working http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3387

Essexboy,
When I follow your link, it takes me to a MS Visual C++ page.  What's up with that?  Is it something missing that needs installed?  Why?
This VC80... program is not on my other machines that run XP and use avast free version or avast paid versiion..

Thanks for your help.

The link was to show that it is an MS programme (Avast carries its own copy in case you do not have it installed) and is a safe programme that other programmes may utilise
