Failed License Key
« on: January 21, 2010, 10:46:01 PM »
Installed version 5 Pro on a new machine and applied for a new license key from my current 4.8pro, received new key and tried to insert it in version 5, continue to get an error that states "not a valid avast! license file" I'm not sure what to do at this point, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you need to explain the steps you took to upgrade in more detail.

When you say "received new key and tried to insert it in version 5", do you
mean by a "key" a string of characters as used in the 4.8 registration?

AFAIK, V5 Pro requires a License *FILE* to be used. It should have a file
extension of .avastlic I believe.

I should have given a little more detail, sorry,

This was a new install on a new computer, installed v5 pro and requested the license file for v5 pro. Received license file from avast and saved it to the desktop of the pc that I am installing v5pro on. Installed v5 pro on pc and restarted pc. Opened v5pro and went to subscription and then clicked on insert license file, directed it to the .avastlic on the desktop, a box then pops up that says that the license file is not a valid license?
