Title: How to uninstall the Anti-theft software?
Post by: wihe on December 08, 2011, 08:13:11 AM
hi,guys
I am testing the avast anti-theft,but I found that I cannot uninstall the program.
(maybe I miss the uninstall method when the program told me how to do it.)
I have already disable the device admin, but I still can't uninstall the program.
Can anyone told me how to uninstall the software?

yes,I installed it rooted.
The document in the software told that I should follow the guide below to uninstall it.
http://forum.avast.com/offline/forum.theftaware.com/viewtopic664f.html
But since I follow the second way to use the ConnectBot,I still don't know the apk's name of the Anti-theft.
(I enter the command "mount | grep system",and it returns "grep:not found")

By the way,can I remove the software by using Titanium backup or link2sd?
Does it anything different from the guide?

Can confirm, uninstalling with Titanium works.

Go to Settings → Location and security → Select device administrators
and untick checkbox with the name you gave to your Anti-Theft profile or whatever.
Then go to Settings → Applications and uninstall the application. It worked for me.

God, what a pain in the ass to remove this thing even if you have it unlocked with your passphrase. Why can't there be an option to uninstall it automatically as well once you log in with the password that you selected? This way only you can access the uninstall feature anyway.
Tried console, tried Titanium Backup and nothing worked. Really annoying...

Good news: in the next official update Mobile Security will contain an uninstall wizard for Anti-Theft which is also able to uninstall rooted installations (of course password protected).

"Go to Settings → Location and security → Select device administrators

Using an LG OptimusV.  The Device Administrators option won't let me untick the checkbox.  When I go to untick it, I get a message asking me if I really want to deactivate it.  I click "ok" and then I'm back on the Device Administrators screen and the box is still ticked.

My device is not rooted.

Help please.  Thanks!

you have to call your access code, then disable theft aware. then uninstall it within the app manager.
