i moved my avast package from one partition to another. now, everytime i run outlook, outlook is still looking for, AshOutXt.dll in the old location.
does anyone know how to point outlook to the new location?

I'll take a guess that you have a registry entry in Microsoft->Exchange->Client->Extensions pointing to the old location.
You may have to do an uninstall of Avast and run the AvClear program and then re-install Avast, if you don't want to mess around in the registry... not too terrible ;)

What do you mean by moving the avast! package to another partition?
Did you move (cut & paste) the avast! folder? or you did another instalation (uninstalling the previous one)... ::)
-
no no... i didn't cut and paste... i uninstalled the first package and and then reinstalled it on another partition.
i'll look at the registry entry... but i don't think it's a registry entry. i think it has something to do with a local configuration file. i've scanned the registry for any entries with "avast" and each entry is pointed to the proper location.
this system has several user accounts, and new user accounts run the addin w/o any issue. it's only the older accounts that exist before the move that cause problems.

xyyz,
Is that Outlool or Outlook Express?

BTW; What was the exact order in which you installed, un-installed and added new user accounts?
Are you still using the same connection method (ISP) with the new accounts as you were with the old ones?.
-
it's outlook 2002...
i uninstalled... and then reinstalled and then i made additional user accounts.
i scoured the registry... looking for anything that has avast in it... all links seem clean... i am certain... it HAS to be a local outlook setting.
anyone know the outlook settings files?

[drive]:\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\Avast4.ini
Are there too many 'old' accounts to try re-doing them?

To solve the problem, please search for and remove the file called extend.dat as described in this thread: http://www.avast.com/forum/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=251;start=msg1467#msg1467
