culprit is Google allowing this in the first place, not checking anything and waiting for users to flag the videos...and react ten years later after a video has been flagged. Can't expect a policy change from people inserting their own ads in stolen and indexed press content (Google news) without any sort of permission. There's a Google tax on the way here in France, finally. I mean there's not much to be surprised with Google policy. Before they became who they are now, Google in its early years use to be
the place of choice for cracks etc ...I still remember an article from someone not happy about the then upcoming activation process in Windows XP and mentioning "No real problem, a quick Google search will allow easily to circumvent that"...yeah, sorry but that's Google too
not saying that other search engines don't index the bad stuff on the Internet, but Google is a specialist.
ps: the big issue with a possible Google tax in Europe is that the servers are all based in the US, and this is precisely what's gonna be dealt with, ie ignored, ie if they don't pay, content will be blocked and Google will be sued. Hope the rest of the EU will follow that move... Was about time to react...main reason, what they do is illegal, and companies don't invest anymore into online advertising, directly with the magazines involved, because Google already does it and grabs the cash.
