okmijnlp, Avast Mobile Security is a follow-up product whose feature set may be slightly different (in case of the anti-theft module). Nevertheless, if you're unhappy with your recent purchase, I think you should be eligible for a refund. Not sure what is the exact procedure of processing refunds of apps purchased through the Android Market though...

Thanks
Vlk

basically posting to be notified when checking new replies on the forums... iOS here, won't change anytime soon and no av needed, but I'm aware of a few flaws on Android, this topic will be interesting, too bad I can't test, no sarcasm intended, I would have liked to test this really ;)

I just installed it and ofcourse i like it...
BUT, you say the realtime protection is active, i downloaded the EICAR virus in the form of  .com and .zip file. Both successfully downloaded to my SDCARD, only after the manual scan it was found.

I run a rooted HTC DESIRE with a custom rom. I turned on the firewall and avast hang, and i have send a report. Dont know if it is going to avast or to the rom developer tho. The first time the firewall asked my superuser app for permission for root access (maybe theres the problem).
After the report, the firewall was on and i was able to turn on and of the firewall and individual apps for firewall.

maybe an impossible question right now but:  will there be integration or control from the SBC product for businesses?

Will this work on my Android Tablet ???
Mine has Android 3.0

It should work, even though the number of tablets we have tested it on was somewhat limited. Would be actually good if you could give it a try on yours and report back.

Thanks
Vlk
Hello Vlk,
It installed on my Acer Iconia Tab A500 with Wi-Fi 10.1 without any problems and as far as I can tell is working.
The Android version that I'm running is 3.2

Here are some pictures:

The Tablet is still a new toy for me so I'm still trying to figure out all the ins and outs.
It certainly is different from a laptop.

Are there any settings that I need to know about ???

@Vlk,
I just saw the notice over at Wilders. Happy news!!

Could you describe a little bit about the firewall - can it control ports and protocols? Both directions?
Is a firewall really needed on Android which is a take on Linux, which has no open ports?
Can the unneeded features be not installed (for instance phone-related things on a tablet that's only wi-fi)?
Does the AV section see bad stuff before or after it installs?

Is there a writeup someplace, so I would not have to bug you with such questions?

I'm glad Avast has finally created a mobile security software and I'm aware it a beta stage, I feel a lot happier and safer choosing Avast and I knew they well create a mobile security.

Any way I don't fully understand what is an Android OS, cause my mobile is a Nokia 6700 slide, so I wouldn't know if Avast could make it capable please check while I wait for the final release. http://www.nokia.com.au/find-products/all-phones/nokia-6700-slide

Firewall on android is not like firewall on Windows. In fact a lot of things is just what a framework allows to the developer. And in case of andorid, it's just enable, block, wifi only, 3G only and roaming control. You can't control ports or protocols as its not necessary really.
Besides, why would you even bother with ports on a phone?

Hi Okmijnlp,

avast! Anti-Theft is the successor of Theft Aware - the next step in its evolution if you want to say so :-). And its free to all users. So no reason to get Theft Aware - go for avast! Anti-Theft. We'll stop selling Theft Aware licenses and get up a new website as soon as the avast! release announcements are published.

best regards
Reinhard

So what's happening to Theft Aware? Why should people get it if this is free?
Well, it is stand alone anti-theft app, some may prefer it, IMHO.
Just one, maybe dumb question, is real-time scanner in this app? Couldn't find any mention of it.
AFAIK only web shield.
Edit by Vlk: of course it is there ;) - Just try with an Eicar, for example.

But that's whatcim saying, why paybfor half an app when you can get the full package free?
