Almost surely I'll return to avast!, especially if 5.1 has a 64bit version. ;)
What do you mean? avast is fully compatible with x64.

+1 its doesnt mean that if few shields or a scan that dont work for 64 bits its dont mean that avast! arent compatible with it.

Nice catch Tech i would say the same.

Because it currently brings virtually no benefits - yet requires a lot of work. So... we'd rather spend our time on something more useful instead (such as new features).

I would like rdmaloyjr to keep AVG and post in their forum and see if he gets anywhere near the support he does here.  ;)

Tech,

I've had my laptop for a little more than a year.

It came with Vista 64.  I was eligible for a free upgrade

to 7 64.  I requested it and when it came I upgraded to 7 64.

All this time I've had avast! on both computers.

I said all this so you will know I have been aware avast! is fully

compatible with x64.  The avast team has repeatedly said

there is little advantage in a x64 version of avast! 5.

I sometimes like to try new softwares.

x64 software catches my eye quicker than x32 programs. ;)

Some people think it's always greener on the other side.  Sometimes I like to check to see if it is greener on the other side. ;D ;D ;D

Let me tell you all something avg free 2011 is really good read all the reviews on it on youtube. it's performance might suck but hey I'd take the performance slow down anyday for good detection. I've only seen avg miss 2 samples out of 20 links that is the free version. the free version also has added anti rookit and ID protection.
