After full scan, Avast shows some files couldnt be scanned because pswd protected.
Where is the scan log that shows those logs/files ?

start avast gui > scan > select the scan you ran > scan history

Please use the search option on this webboard before posting since this is mentioned a lot of times already.

Thanks much for the reply !
I may/probably have missed it, and already understand about what the pswd protected files are about (or at least enough for me), but am trying to locate the scan log, on my PC, that shows those files/locations (didnt find that in the 'blog' post).
Couldnt find/search a post with that info.
What am I missing ?

You question is the single most asked topic in the forums. Password protected files are just that nothing more, nothing less.
Password protected files are inert and pose no harm. Once they are opened then the file shield and "deepscreen" kick into
action. As long as they just sit there they can do no damage. Many files are password protected most of which can be found
in the download folder. Unless they are unpacked there is nothing to worry about.

To find the scan logs...GUI>Scan>lower right corner "scan history"

Or...GUI>right click on a tile>change shortcut>select  :)

If a log is created and what is in it (or is not in it) depends on the settings you made for the scan.

The default is "generate report". Depending if something is found will determine if a "detailed report" is generated or not.

Thank you.
Yes, been there done that, but how (dont see the option) to get a 'file' or 'report' that can be printed and/or saved as a *.txt file ?

Thanks.
Took a look at your links, but didnt see anything specific to this question.
Were you suggesting a need to call 'support' (ph # on your links) for an answer to this question ?
Did phone 'support', and they could not help unless I had the paid version or would spend $120 to get help from an 'expert'.
One last minute suggestion was to check 'temp' files.
Couldnt find anything there.
Or maybe there is no such file available... seems odd ?
Other suggestions ?
Something for you

Navigate to the log file folder and open the log of your choice with the text editor of your choice.
The location depends on the OS you are using.
Search for Chest.log and you should find the folder with the log files.

...and couldnt find any other *.log file, in that folder, with a list of 'unable to scan' files.
Any other *.log files location that may have that list ?

I couldn't find the logs either.
I finally found them using Windows (file) Explorer in the Reports folder.
The full path to this folder on Win 7 x64 is
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\report

I don't know if there's a way to get to these reports in the Avast GUI.
I'm using Avast! free 2014.9.0.2018.

Thank you for the info.
Using XP Explorer, am finding C:\AVAST Software\Avast\log, but no files in the folder.
Did you find a 'text' file with the Subject: list of files ?

Hello akm,
It looks like you are using Win XP, right?
The path info I posted is for Win 7 64 Bit...

I THINK I figured out where Avast saves the "log/report" file you are looking for.

Look in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\report

If you don't find .txt files there, look in <YOUR USERID>, rather than "All Users".

The "log/report" files are .txt files (for me)...
