Title: Uninstall AVAST Mac OSX

Free (expired) version Avast running V 10.6.2
Got fed up with pop-ups and yellow emails.
Tried to uninstall / proved complicated. Put up with pop-ups etc for two weeks.
Tried to uninstall... again and searched for tricks and tips to install.
Started process to pay for paid version but Euro price still includes sales tax despite providing VAT number and Euro price too high compared to USD price.
Decided to uninstall seriously.
Tried more research and what works for others does not work for me...

Go to AVAST preferences...
Untick the persistant mode...
Drag to trash

For me the AVAST preferences are greyed out. :o

Can anyone help??
