error message
« on: June 07, 2012, 04:30:14 AM »
Can someone tell me why i would be receiving this message even when i do not have any browsers open?

"revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. do you want to proceed"

when i click "view certificate"it says "issued to:" sjremetrics.java.com

Could this be a symptom of malware?

I find it weird to receive this when im not browsing the internet...

This looks to be an agent for java update module.  See:  http://serverfault.com/questions/56370/how-can-i-block-java-updates-network-wide and http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?s=8b6e2cd97ae8ee0895f9e42b1ce77f1e&showtopic=202457&st=0&p=1607942&#entry1607942

Module is attempting to update your java; manually uninstall your version and get the latest version here:  http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Suggest watching for unwanted add-ons during installation and turning off the automatic update feature if you do not want to see this in the future.  You will, of course, then be responsible to update your java version with the newest version when it comes out, not Sun.

Java update module is not dependent on whether a browser is running atm to run.
