« on: January 05, 2011, 12:35:24 PM »
Hi Ondrej,

I would like to know what is the meaning of Sound Packs added as you mentioned when announce the new version of avast?

The most notable improvements are:
- boot-time scanner now available even in 64-bit Windows
- big improvements in the Behavior Shield
- improvements in the antirootkit engine
- improvements in the cleaning module
- stability/performance improvements in the Web Shield
- CommunityIQ improvements
- added support for sound packs
- minor improvements in the user interface
- minor fixes in the firewall

Whether user can added their own voices into avast programs?

Please kindly advice,

cheers,

I was think that it's the ability to load own sounds into avast. But still cannot.

You can have your own sounds, but at the moment it takes a little bit of work.

That will certainly be useful as I have been trying unsuccessfully to replace the new AVAST! (loud and pirate talk style) Virus Database has been updated (normal volume, English). But every time I replace the .wav file with the old update message, even having disabled self-defence first, it keeps being replaced.

Really? That's strange... the sound files should not be checked and repaired...

I have replaced it three times on my XP Pro and win7 netbook systems and the very next auto update and the original is back.

Edit: I have found out why, I replaced the one in the Sounds folder and not the one in the 1033 sub-folder. Lets see if that was the cause on the next update.

the 1033 folder is the one with the voiceover sounds, so when you replaced the other one, you still had the option to use the voiceover selected.

Unchecking that option would force it to use the ones in the sounds folder (including your one)

I find the easiest way to check is to change the threat detected one, so you can test what is used by using eicar
