Can't find Network Shield history

I can't recall if avast4 had it or not, but once the "Threat Detected" popup goes away, the only way I have to see what connection has been blocked is to go hunt down nshield.log.  What am I missing?

Just right click on the avast icon in the notification area and select 'Show last popup message.'

Cool.  I see it now. :-0  I'll try it next time since it's grayed out now because of a reboot.

No way to see the whole nshield.log history directly from the interface though?  If not, why is that .log file kept?

Please go to PROFILE then Modify Profile then Forum Profile Information then update your Signature: with information like my signature as this helps the helpers offer pertinent advice.

In Account Related Settings select Hide email address from public? to prevent scammers and spammers harvesting your lakefokes.org email address.

OK.  Done.  Good enough?  Any mail coming to this address is suspected to be spam anyway and filtered strictly. :-)  But, it's a good idea.  Anything else?

The report can be accessed through the avastUI, Real-time Shields, Network Shield, Show report file (but it isn't worth the visit). Unfortunately it doesn't record anything more than when it started and when it closed, not the sites blocked, so you have to be quick to gather the information before a reboot.

You can access the actual log C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\log\nshield.log (this is for XP other OS will differ), here you can see the actual sites blocked.

Yup.  Thanks.  That's what I've been doing but thought there might be a simpler way.  Especially since all those statictics are made readily availably.  Anyway, no big deal.

I can't see the point in why the two aren't combined into one file and that used for the UI.

I could be here every day with wants and "why doesn't"s, but the product does it's job well, and is still better than AVG (for the most part). :-}  I got no real gripes......... :-)

It is always a case of looking at the way things were done with your past AC, since leaving AVG over six and a half years ago I haven't looked back.

There are differences in the way things were done in the avast 4.8 GUI which are different in avast 5s UI, but it is much easier to find your way around it, it just takes a little time to adjust to the new settings, etc.
