Portable Avast
« on: November 29, 2008, 01:13:30 AM »
I just got a U3 flash drive today, which includes the Portable version of Avast, and I'd like to keep it, but on the other hand I've heard so many bad things about U3 that it's got to go.

Without using the U3 version, how do I get avast to run from a flash drive? (or, in other words, portable) Or is that not possible?

Thanks!

Sorry, you can't because it is a resident antivirus that needs to be installed with all the associated registry entries, services, low level drivers loading on boot for it to function.

Would be nice to see a Portable version..., for On-Demand scanning & cleaning of badly infected computers.  ;)

There is the Bart CD version but it is expensive and more for professional use.

I don't think they will release it for free.
By the way, BART CD saved one of old HDD a week ago... running deep check disk. Thanks ;)
