I'm using Android Virtual Devices environment to test the Anti-Theft beta.
I've finished the translation to pt-br and Trevor asked me to test it.
I need to uninstall the previous version, but I don't know how.
AVD does not allow root installation. So, mine is not root.
The program manager does not allow to uninstall and Anti-Theft is not enabled.
Overinstallation fails.

You have to disable the device administrator setting to uninstall (either go to Phone Settings and do it there, or use the link in Advanced Settings -> SMS-Locktext, GPS, Wipe at the bottom of the page)
-
Can I receive an SMS in the virtual environment? ???
I'm trying to disable the device administrator. It does not ask for a password? Why? Can it be disable like this? So, what's the problem for the thieve?
-
Setting Device Admin does not need any password.. Sadly.. :(
-
Well, the uninstallation goes, the new program is installed.
Most screens were corrected in PtBr (@Trevor). Some of them weren't sent for translation and are still in English.

Well... It just make all the Anti-Theft completely vulnerable...
-
Thats a reason for installing it rooted, you cant uninstall a system app that easy.. But if you take the device admin the app cant wipe everything.. Its really sad!
-
basically the best way to make anti theft less vulnerable is to hide it - which it does quite well. Once a thief knows its there a lot of security is lost already. A password screen would not really help - however app locking is already in the works for Mobile Security so you could lock the settings screen for that.
-
So just how does one remove Anti-Theft on a rooted phone that has hard reset protection enabled?
I've never rooted a phone before (I rooted my Color Nook). Not that I want to remove it but I'd like to know in case the need ever arises.

It depends; if you are using the one via remote desktop (prepared by me :-)) you can not. In emulator yes.

Which was the false name you give it when you've installed it?
-
Good news: in the next official update Mobile Security will contain an uninstall wizard for Anti-Theft which is also able to uninstall rooted installations (of course password protected).
-
and this is expected when exactly?
-
Some said today or tomorrow, the problem being that was yesterday ;D
-
found a solution for rooted devices:
run Titanium backup > backup> go to your antitheft name and uninstall it..
go to Task manager and then then uninstall avast.
it worked for me..
-
The update released today included the removal wizard mentioned few posts above. I like it.
-
Happy you said it :-)
-
Yes, the wizard is welcome :)
