Weird Scan Results
« on: February 03, 2013, 10:58:25 PM »
Avast scan tells me a lot of files can't be scanned as they are password protected and also tells me that 411GB have been scanned which is impossible (too big for my computer).

it is normal.... if it is not files password protected by you...also some programs password protect there files. like adobe and security programs....

files that can not be scanned (for whatever reason given by avast) does not mean they are infected

you may attach a screenshot of the scan result so we can see.....

You don't say what scan you did or what settings - Looks like you have modified the scan to scan archives ?
The total GB scanned includes the files unpacked from inside the archives to be scanned.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Attached scan results.

How can I check why it scanned 411GB?

If I do that it doesn't do anything.

I understand it could be scanning the archives, but its never done it before - its always scanned the amount on the computer so I don't understand why its changed.

Sorry, just worked out how to do it... will post screenshots in a minute.

Still don't understand why it suddenly shows 411GB though as it never did before - always like 70GB or something.

Screenshots.

I have to attach them one-by-one for their size.

They all seems to belong to flash Player install...

Is a long time since you did house cleaning?
Run CCleaner.    you find it here. Piriform.com

Shouldn't be too long. I would admit I don't do it every day but I run CCleaner every now and then. I'll run it and then run a scan again and see what happens.
