avast! Free Antivirus (Not Responding) on Vista
« on: April 06, 2010, 05:41:52 PM »
A home user has gone to load up their PC.

Avast tells them that their license has expired and they need to register.

They go ahead and follow the instructions to register their free home version.

Upon clicking on "Register now", the application freezes and stops responding.

It's Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

See attached.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

Thanks.

When  was this?  There were a few brief server outages reported this morning in another thread.

I suspect the two incidents are unrelated. Any better ideas?

Avast is latest, and a fix didn't work. Any further ideas?

Last resort seems to be an uninstall with the Avast! uninstaller at the top of this forum, and then a reinstall.  Have seen a few reports of registration problems, but not a universal solution yet.
