Polonus,

I'm not allowed to sent personal messages to this forum.
I have understand your directions and have a try.

Till now I used Norton 360, but LiveUpdate failed. I think for the same reason that Avast update failed.
Support could not help me, so I switched to Avast.

Till now, no problem.

You need 20 posts for that.

1) Remove NAV through Add/Remove programs from Control Panel. Boot.
2) Use Norton Removal Tool for Windows 2000/XP/Vista.
3) Boot.
4) Install avast! Boot.
5) See what you get.

I did.
Avast had the same problem with connecting to the server as N360. Avast is OK now, thanks to this forum. Setting of the connection from Proxy to Direct did the trick. Norton support could not help me. So I tried Avast.
I do not know if N360-connection also can changed. But that is now theoretical.

Glad that the problem is now resolved, most who make the switch to avast from Norton don't regret it.
