Hi guys...I am having a problem connecting to the Internet with one of my computers, on which I have Avast Internet Security 5.1.889 installed. I know this is probably a simple fix, but I am unsure what to do, and I do not have access to this PC everyday, so the next time I use it I would like to remedy the problem.
On this PC...
OS: Windows XP SP3
Internet Browser: Internet Explorer
And I connect to the Internet through a router (I am thinking this is why my problem is occurring).
Every time I try to access the Internet (via cable modem) I get that generic message everyone knows.. "this web page cannot be displayed...blah blah blah." I'm thinking it must be a problem within my firewall exceptions because every time I disable the avast firewall and re-enable the Windows firewall, I can access web pages with no problem. Also, which I thought was strange...If I have BOTH the Windows and Avast firewalls enabled, it allows me access (and I know NOT to leave both firewalls running, as it can cause conflicts and other problems). Also, I wanted to keep my firewall setting on Default ("Work" setting)...if i change it to the "Home" setting I can access the net, but I figured my computer would not be as well protected.
If anyone knows what to do in this situation, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
