Author Topic: HELP!... after installing new version, Web Shield won't turn on  (Read 3911 times)

After installing the free 7.0.1466 I get alert that Web Shield is turned off and to either click "Fix Now" or "turn on" but NEITHER of these does anything. I went to Web Shields and it says service stopped and "please run the avast service first to activate this shield."    What do I do??

Looks like the Shield have gone a bit weird at the moment.

Have you tried to repair the install througgh add/remove programs in control panel, or tried a re-install ?

Any other security program that could be interfering?
Maybe an installation from scratch will help.

@lee88 - could you check if there is a .mdmp file in avast log directory? ProgramData (win7) or Documents and Settings/All Users (winXP)
Quality is also a feature.
