Avast update

is anyone having trouble updating avast!
its like it is frozen........

Known issue, they're working on it.

still frozen and not updating

ran the tool and it said
your avast installation doesn't seem to have the problem this fix is supposed to solve(code 11)
the update is still frozen tech
am i suppose to uninstall using aswclear and reinstall or what?

My computer is only a year old.  I cannot deal with this.  I do not know how to solve the problem of the avast not updating.  I am not techy

tech i uninstalled in safe mode and reinstalled and now the mail shield will not turn on-after i click on the fix now or turn on-nothing
what is going on with avast 7?

I also had that problem and fixed it by doing a clean install.


Download the avast! removal tool.
Download avast!7 free


Go to Programs and Features and uninstall avast!
Reboot into Safe Mode
Run the removal tool.
Reboot
Install avast!7

@drhayden1,

When you finish with aswclear, look into "C:/windows/system32/drivers/". If there are any "asw*" drivers from avast / alwil (aswrdr2.sys for example), then delete them too.

Also manually search for any folders with "alwil*" or "avast*" as part of their names ("Alwil Software" or "Avast Software" or "avast5" for example). Delete them too.

All that while in Windows Safe Mode. Then reboot into Normal Mode and install Avast, and reboot again.
