Hi guys.
I've searched for this problem but couldn't find any solutions.
I have an old WinME computer that I hardly ever use but I have Avast! Home Edition 4.8.1368 installed on it for years. Now it doesn't have an internet connection because I can't find a PCI WiFi card that works with Win98SE/ME. The other day I needed to use my scanner that doesn't work on WinXP so I thought I would manually download the 4.8 update and install it from a flash drive. http://www.avast.com/download-update
When I ran vpsupd4.exe and it said the registration had expired so it would add the newer definition files. Now 4.8.1368 was that last version that worked on Win98/ME so why would I need to update registration if the newer version don't work on that OS?
As I said I don't use that computer much but it wold be nice to have Avast still working and up to date, any suggestions?
Oh on a side note I see the newer version of Avast has removed the double popup when updating, nice one.

It still has to be registered to get virus definition updates:
- Complete the avast! free antivirus Registration (http://www.avast.com/registration-free-antivirus.php) form and you will receive an email from register @ register.avast . com (without the spaces) with your registration key.
Now I don't know if this will also work for avast 4.8 or not.
Support for avast 4.8 ceases at the end of this year.
