avast not working

Avast is not working on my computer; I can't get it to start and the window for the key does not come up. Help!

Need a little more information:  What is your OS?  Which version and build of Avast! are you using?  What AV and other security software were you using before and how did you uninstall it.  Have you done a reboot (or a couple) since you installed it?  Does the rest of your system still seem to work OK?  Are there any error messages?

Have you Restarted your computer yet?

When I clicked to open Avast 5 after it had first installed... Avast 5 Didn't Open! 

1) Restarted my Laptop
2) Gave it time to settle after the Restart
3) Successfully Opened Avast 5 - - And was asked to Register  
4) Clicked the - Register Button
5) Filled in little Form
6) Avast 5 Said... " Thank You For Registering! "
All Done!
