Additional avast! sounds available
« on: February 28, 2004, 03:22:11 PM »
Hello everyone !

I remember someone has asked before about additional event sounds for avast! and that would be good if those words were spoken by female...

Ok, here is your chance to have them... I made some neat sounds. Unfortunately, I don't have enough WEB space to upload them in there (it's a zip file containing 7 sound events, 529.590 Kb).
So if you are interested, I can send you a file to your e-mail address. Just  send me request to this address:
bljakavo@hotpop.com

Cheers !

The sounds are pretty cool.
You can download them from http://cat.asw.cz/~vlk/sasha_avast_sounds.zip :)

Btw, Rejzor... do you know about some free quick launch bar or something that looks nice and doesn't take up too much system resources ? I don't wanna use something that should be as simple as Windows default Quick Launch and take up so much memory as Object Dock. I need something that look nice and in the same timeit's not system hog...

It seems like I can't find anything on the internet... Is there any alternative to Object Dock ? I just want to get rid of Object Dock. Sometimes I notice that if I want to browse around those icons, everything seems to be like little bit slowed down...

Cheers !

Sasha,

I use True Launch Bar  http://www.truelaunchbar.com/.  It's not free though.  Presently, it's about $20.00 (was on sale at Christmas time for $15  :-\ ).

The forum there is like Alwil's forum.  Nice people and a really nice programmer (Yuri from Russia).  Questions are usually answered quickly and bugs are squashed pretty quick by Yuri.  ;)

You can get rid of the Start button, redesign your menus, have more than one True Launch Bar running, use tons of plugins, etc.  And it runs off of the Explorer so hardly any extra system resources.   ;D

BTW - The weather monitor on my screen is one of my skins available.  The plugins can be used in the task bar or menus.   :D

Your top bar is with Object Dock, correct?  If so, you can't do that with True Launch Bar presently (but with Yuri anything appears to be possible).  ::)

Plugins include - Battery Monitor, Calculator, CD Control, Command Line, Drive Space, Key State, Mail Monitor, MotherBoard Monitor, Moon Monitor, Net Monitor, Process Viewer, TLB Clock, Turn Off Computer, System Monitor, Up Time, Virtual Desktop, Volume Control, & Media Control.  Many of these can be skinned too.  :o

If you have time, check out the forum there http://www.tsoftcentral.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi. Browse around and see the great support we get there (like here at Alwil).    ;D

RejZor thanks for those links, but I couldn't find anything that satisfies me... those little applications looks like hey were made back in 1921. Uuuuuuuugly !!!
I just can't believe that there is no quick launch application that looks nice and neat like Object Dock, but without those fancy magnification modes (animations), and works great as standard windows quicklaunch bar (except it hasn't so much features). Those animations from Object Dock just takes up too much memory and system resources. I need something that is nice as Object Dock with possibility to use nice icons (PNG format) and without  those animations...

Anyone knows about anything ?

Greetz !

I checked that section too and i found only 2 partially good toolbars. But they use the same amount of RAM as ObjectDock and they look ugly... Im back on ObjectDock hehe

EDIT:
Hm i got an idea and it works! ;D
Turn off ObjectDocks Magnified Size Option under Appearance tab. It looks the same (nice) just there is no slow magnifing animation. Its much faster and doesn't slow down anything. And ObjectDock uses only 2MB of RAM !!!

But, the problem is 'cause there is no option to turn off that animation... you can just choose in between narrow mode and wide mode... I know you can turn off transition options, but is there any option that you can completely turn it off ?

What version are you using ? Mine is 1.0 build 285

Oh... sorry, I just found out what you are talking about... there is small check mark under appereance card...

Thanks, works great !

Cheers !
