malware i guess
« on: August 18, 2006, 07:19:24 AM »
i have an OS which is ME. I was recently attacked by a VBS malware/redlof which was detected by Avast but I had to use SOLO to clean it off. Now there is a file  'webschlock.txt' which refuses to go away even when deleted . Its under the avast folder under TEMP. Tried deleting it but it says 'access denied source file may be in use'. File size is 0kb. What do I do . My internet speed id drastically slowed down. Am using a dial up connection. HELP What to do?

Hi mcl,

Download killbox to get rid of this file you cannot kill from here: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/spyware/KillBox.zip

Then load BHO demon from here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=3550&file=10&evp=245a87539eea8ed6904332b4b8b8442d

And look for bad BHO to kill and look for this:

Maybe you do not have it on your machine, but look for it anyways,

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!
