Pastyman, thanks for the clarification. In that case we got a fix for you. Will post it here tomorrow, once the build server will spit it out.

Lukas.

Go to C:\programdata\avast software\avast directory
Find the WebShield.ini, file and add following lines:

[General]
UseStreamFilter=0

restart „avast! Antivirus“ service, or reboot.

That could solve it.

This was driving me nuts - but your solution worked! Thanks!

Works for me as well. Looking forward to the patch anyway.

Alas, no support from Logitech anymore for squeezeplay. They even removed it from all download folders. So I have been trying to find a bug in the lua software. I thought I could pin it down to https://github.com/Logitech/squeezeplay/blob/public/7.8/src/squeezeplay/share/jive/net/Comet.lua The last successful command is on line 627.

The CometRequest on the next line times out. In the comment it says that the request is not according to specs. That is rather suspicious. I didn't know where to look for the specs. Anyone does?

Alas .. still no patch?

A beta has been released, which should fix this problem.

[In Haste On the Way To the Airport]

Lukas

Thanks for letting us know about the patch. Unfortunately, an urgent work commitment has blown up and I am now away from my Avast-protected PCs for four weeks. Thus, I won't be able to test the patch until, I get back :(

Really sorry about this (especially since I started this hare running) but the real-world seems to have a habit of getting in the way of the more important things in life! I'll test it when I get back but, in the meantime, it's good to see that Rob Meerwijk has tested the patch and it seems to solve the problem. No doubt, some of the other interested parties on this thread will also get involved.

Thanks for the swift response in helping getting this one sorted. A lot of Squeezebox users will be very grateful.

I followed the link and applied the beta and it worked to my LMS set-up back up and running, but it didn't restore the full functionality of Squeezeplay. I can see and control LMS (see music library, create playlist, etc.), but the player intermittently stalls after playing songs and needs to be manually moved to the next track. Because the problem is intermittent it's hard to tell, but it when I turn off webshield the players functions normally.

The BETA is outdated now. 9.0.2013 was released like an hour ago. This is the official version and not a BETA.

The BETA users always seem to get the update last... from the program notifications.

A VPS should fix that for all users... since all servers may not be updated.

You can always download the offline installer in the thread I linked above and install over the top...

Just did a fresh install of 9.0.2013 removing the beta I'd installed earlier. I also did a clean install of my Squeezeplay setup (v7.8.0 r328). Before the beta I couldn't get Squeezeplay to communicate with the server at all, now it communicates with, and controls, the LMS fine. BUT... Squeezeplay will still hang intermittently when working through a playlist. As soon as I turn off WebShield everything works perfectly. If I manually kick it to the next song it will play a few then hang again... WebShield off and no issues. So it looks to me like WebShield still has issues.
