False Positive at ConsumerWorld.org
« on: April 08, 2008, 02:32:03 PM »
Five readers of my website, ConsumerWorld.org, say that Avast just started giving them a virus warning when they try to access the homepage:

Malware name: VBS: Malware-gen
Malware type: Virus/worm
VPS version: 080407-1, 04/07/2008

My scans of the site with Panda indicate no problem, and no other readers using other anti-virus software have reported a problem.

I wrote to virus@avast.com today indicating that I think this is a false positive.

Is there anything else I can do?  If readers want to visit the site but are being blocked by Avast, how do you add a particular URL to their Avast installation to allow such access (if ConsumerWorld is indeed not a problem).

Thanks,
Edgar

UPDATE.

I just received this email from Avast:

>>This is a false alarm. Please apologize us for any inconvenience caused.
The detection was removed from the latest internal build of database and will be out today.

Is that where the company is?
