Avast 7 Internet security and Outlook 2007 Issue

I had the same issue where outgoing emails would not pass through and here is what worked for me... (Using version 7.x)
Go to Realtime Shields, Web Shield, Expert Setting, Exclusions, processes to exclude (at the bottom). Then point directly to outlook.exe

Now you should be able to send...
