Thank you to all the people that made the time to reply. I appreciate it.
I want a computer that is as secure as a computer can be, one step short of not having a computer.
Virus, is an apt description of what it does. It is a sickness that not only renders a perfectly good machine to function poorly, but has the capacity to inflict damage to humans as well, by gaining information, and using that to further gain. ( usually money, but also power. )
Not made by clever young kids, as one might imagine, but by cyber criminals, some of whom have (bot) control over 1000000 computers.
The best defense I have been able to come up with, so far, is, as follows:
Avast! free antivirus
Comodo Firewall (stand alone)
Malwarebytes
Ad Muncher
Snitch Plus
PrivacyEraser Pro (settings to 20 overwrites, change filename, reset to zero bytes)
CCleaner (settings to 35 passes)
Maintenance:
Keep everything updated at all times. (Browser, antivirus programs...everything.)
Delete all System Restore points, except the latest one. ( reason is, that, system restore points often house a yet unrecognized virus, and albeit, your updated Avast! has since found and eradicated the virus, it remains in your System Restore point. )
Modem kept off when not online.
At the end of every Browsing session, I run all these programs, I run Avast! Full Scan, then Avast Boot time Scan.
But, I don't know...if running a Boot scan negates running a Full scan.
