Avast Chest
« on: April 07, 2005, 10:14:05 PM »
I just got rid of NAV and put Avast ver 4.5.561 on my computer.
I ran a through scan and it found one virus.  I had it put it
in the Chest.

How do I get to the Chest to take care of the virus?  It says
in the help file to go to the Chest to do this, but I can't
find the Chest.

Thanks

Henry

Check for a program update, the latest release version is 4.6.623.

The file is safe in the Chest, it can do no harm from there and it is best to leave it there for a week or so to ensure that there are no harmful effects having sent it there if it was detected incorrectly. That way you can investigate the problem as required and delete it later.

But to see what is in the Chest right click the avast icon and select Program Settings... then click on the Chest icon. There may be some differences as you are using a dated version of avast.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I was there and all it gives to choose from is:  "Maximum size of the Chest"
and "Maximum size of the file to be sent".

Henry:
1. Right click the 'a' blue icon
2. Start avast antivirus
3. On the skin, look for the Chest icon (generally with crossed bones)

Thanks, I found it.  I didn't realize you had to start Avast.
My version looks different than yours, but the clue was to
start Avast.

One could also run "x:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashChest.exe". Where x is the appropriate drive letter
