Title: Avast on Windows 2012 R2 server

Hello all,

We are installing AVast Small Office on a windows 2012 R2 server. I have not found any information about compatibility. Does anyone know?
I'm asking because the client (Avast Endpoint protection that we have installed is telling us

This program is presenting us compatibility issues

If anyone knows, I would be greatfull.

Just a guess:  No chance of this working right now.

Windows 8.1 doesn't work with the paid business products (avast v8).  The free consumer product (avast v9 aka v2014) works.  They have stated (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=139258.0) that they hope to have the education product (assume, business product) updated in "about a month"...  Server 2012 r2 is closely related to Windows 8.1, just as Server 2012 is closely related to Windows 8...  I'd expect the same compatibility on the server line as the desktop line when it comes to avast.

This is correct, the V8 Business Products (including consoles) are currently not compatible with Win 8.1 and as it is closely related with 2012 R2 then the same can be assumed. We have seen cases where there was some success by installing avast V8 after the upgrade to 8.1 and ignoring the compatibility warnings, however we cannot recommend this approach as V8 behavior in this environment can be unpredictable and has not been tested.

We will have to make a new build and release a new installer to fix this. We already have a fix and are testing but it will be at least a few more weeks before it is ready to be released.

Target day is December 14th.  I use EPS now on Server 2012 (before R2) with no issues.

Only thing you can do now is to use the BETA on that server, File System Shield only.  And that is a great question. Any word on EP 8.1 release, Lukas?
