not every keygen is trojan:
1.clean:but maybe packed with unknown packer that will make antivirus mark it as infected(most cases)
2.infected:the av will tell you it is infected but the devil will tell you it is a clean one and fuck the packers and the FPs so you open it and get infected so
dont use keygen use freeware or buy them
avast pro 39 dollars it is not a big thing it is cost you 10.67 cent per day

To the topic owner:

Your Friend is not Your Friend unless you know him for at least 1 year and you really trust him.
Your Friend is not dumb either I think he is trying to hack you...

I dealt with 1 pretending to be my Friend. Do never Trust those people!
You hear me never download any thing any one gives you!

Virus = Virus

Keylogger allows some one to use your Devices (I think) From the outside.
But if your Friend never stated that then he is probably tricking you and you should really stop contacting him...
he is probably pretending to be nice That is Unless He Tells you what does it Exactly do which is using devices from another computer remotly (it could be safe only if you trust who do that).

Were talking keygen here not keylogger, a significent difference.

Whilst the keygen in itself might not be infected, they aren't normally packed on their own but bring along friends that you wouldn't want to invite to the party.

So outside of the moral/legal issue of using keygens to circumvent software that requires a license key (normally requiring payment), when engaging in this type of activity there is a high risk of trojans.

avast isn't detecting simply a keygenerator but detecting it because there is something else going on. It just isn't worth it.

25 out of 41 scanners detect this and you're prepared to entertain the idea that it is a false positive?
Take the risk if you want, and we'll see you back soon for help in malware removal.
I just wouldn't take the risk. If you "Google" the file name, all the hits point to either keygen forums/sites or malware removal forums.

(PS, just ask your friend for the url to the fslab test result, if one exists. I bet there will not be one. He will say something like "I have the email message.." and maybe quote from it. Meaningless.)

Ha die robin20,

Yes it does: http://blog.avast.com/tag/keylogger/
Also download MBAM and SAS as stand-alone additional anti-malware/spyware/
I'd also advise you to install Keyscrambler for in your Firefox or Flock browser:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3383
KeyScrambler Personal encrypts your keystrokes at the kernel driver level to protect your information from keyloggers.
In such a case you're both protected against keyloggers. Even when there is one undetected on your machine.

groetjes, uit de buurt van Rotterdam,

polonus

Wow. OK, if you are sure they are referring to the exact same file, it should be OK.
Thing is, there is no reference to the file submitted (by name or MD5 etc) so, bit of a stretch mentally, perhaps, but their email could actually be referring to a different file. (Not too much of a stretch if you're a little paranoid.)

I take it back, but my comments (and others) are still valid, generally.   You would not normally choose to run a file with that detection rate.

All keygens can be dangerous to use ... not to mention probably illegal.
