Avast Pro blocking flash video chat sites
« on: April 11, 2014, 11:52:57 AM »
Running Win 7 Pro with Avast Pro.

Finding that some video chat sites that use Flash disconnect frequently or the video freezes.

Investigation:

1.  Tried other PCs on network without Avast: no problem with flash video chat sites
2.  Uninstalled and reinstalled the network card via Windows Device Manager: no change
3.  Reinstalled network card drivers: no change
4.  Disabled shields in Avast: no change
5.  Uninstalled Avast completely: problem with Flash video chat sites resolved

No warnings from Avast regarding these sites.

So, I guess I am just out of luck?

Should I report this problem elsewhere?

I am midway through my paid subscription and I am forced to uninstall for things to work, but no support is offered here apparently.

Did you try to disable Avast Online Security add-on in the browser ?

So Avast Tech Support advised me to completely uninstall and reinstall the software.

So far it seems to be working well and the problem that was reported above is resolved.

Thanks.
