Avast! free antivirus registration not working

My Avast! free antivirus is about to expire and I cannot renew my license, I press the select for the free version (Base protection/avast! free antivirus) on the dialog and it's not responding. The dialog for entering the details is not appearing.

If that is not enough, then:

In either case, check for your incoming email or your junk email folder (in case, for whichever reason, it gets there)
