AVAST integration in VMWARE VSHIELD
« on: April 08, 2014, 12:55:17 PM »
Hey

I am looking to replace the hardware in my datacenter next year. My preffered ideas at this moment are to implement a VDI infrastructure based on vmware horizon. I am concerned though about the "antivirus storm" when scanning clients in a virtualised environment impacting the servers and the storage.

VMware has created a specialised appliance specifically for this concern called vmware vshield. This appliance offloads most of the scanning to a special area. Antivirus vendors need to make a compatible plugin for this.

I would love to keep Avast as the antivirus product in my company but if VDI happens, there will be no way to keep Avast because of the performance issues it will create. I probably have to look into switching to Kaspersky or one of the other parties for this that have the plugin.

Are there any plans to look into creating this kind of plugin for vmware within 1 year ?
