I have an unrooted HTC Android 2.3.5 with Sprint.
I've just spent a few hours researching Mobile Security/Anti-Virus and Anti-Theft for my phone.
Avast seems the clear winner in this category as a free app, congrats!
(I've been using Avast Free Antivirus on my computers for years).
The one thing that concerns me that is unexplained in my research is this -
Suppose for whatever reason I decide I no longer want Avast Mobile Security/ Avast Anti-Theft on my phone.
I understand that there are safeguards in place to prevent a thief from being able to remove it, which is understandable.
But isn't there a way for the phone's owner to remove these programs in their entirety?
I've seen no explanation of how to do this anywhere. But I have seen a few posts of people frustrated with not being able to remove anti-theft devices from their phones, even after a factory re-install/reformat to factory original settings.
And if there is a way to do this - couldn't a thief do the same thing to remove?
I'd think a password would be involved, but someone offered that as a suggestion in a post I read, so I don't think there's a user password involved to do a complete uninstall.
Would like to make sure it's not on my phone forever if I don't want it to be.
Please explain if this can be done, and how.
