Avast will not install
« on: September 08, 2012, 07:34:29 PM »
Hi, I'm new in this Forum, my best greetings to all the goers of this Forum, but Avast will not install even with a pick! I have Linux Mint 13 Maya XFCE 64bit.
Terminal: wget http://files.avast.com/files/linux/avast...2_i386.deb
                  sudo dpkg -i avast4workstation_1.3.0-2_i386.deb
                  sudo sysctl -w kernel.shmmax=128000000
                  exit

Menu==>Accessories==>Avast Antivirus==> click: the software not start
Restart pc, Menu==>Accessories==>Avast Antivirus==> click: the software not start

Download latest version in /home, duoble click deb file, Gdebi starting, installing package, execution installer but in Gdebi, after this operation, the package result
"INSTALL PACKAGE" not "INSTALLED PACKAGE"!

How I can do for install and utilize Avast for Linux? I am doomed to use only Clamav/Clamtk? Nooooooo

I think you may be trying to install a 32 bit app into a 64 bit OS - it should work, but it didn't for me.

This thread suggests a workaround - I haven't tried it ( I now use bitdefender for unices)

(I tried the 'force-architecture' command for avast - but without success).
