did everything again and still the mail shield will not work....everything else is running
the turn on or fix now will not respond when i click on it
i have the internet security version not the free one
where can i download internet security 6 at or gonna have to use any service until 7 is fixed
strange in the mail shield section there is not a stop or start to click on.....all the others have it
and it says please run the avast service first to activate the shield.....what does that mean or what to do????

Well in this same old bs, are you getting any errors ?
Crucially are you uninstalling the avast you have installed from add remove programs first; running the aswclear.exe from safe mode, first for avast6 and then avast7 before rebooting into normal mode; install the latest avast version ?

No problem, so long as you have it working.

This is an avast auto-update check in progress (the avast.setup process controls updates) and one of the download servers

Yes, this has happened before, avast has hundreds of update servers and is constantly adding them and they are on occasion reused IP addresses and it is possible that previously this IP was blocked by the network shield.

I have reported it for investigation and correction.
