I'm in the process of running a full system scan on my iMac running Mountain Lion 10.8.2. On my internal hard drive, I had two infections reported, both in my VM Fusion files, one a snapshot and one the current file. Both are reported as infected with Civil Defense-6672. Of course, when I run an Avast scan in Windows under Fusion, nothing is found. False positive? My bigger question concerns the number of infected files appearing on my Time Machine drive. There have to be 40 or 50 files reported with all kinds of infections, almost all Windows infections. Many of the files are backups of the Fusion files, which makes sense, since these are backups of the files in the internal hard drive that Avast is reporting as being infected. However, there are lots of other files being reported as infected, many of them jpg files from iPhoto. However, on the internal drive, none of these infections were reported. Why would backup files in Time Machine be infected when none of the original files on the internal hard drive are reported to be infected? They're the same files. Any ideas?

can you upload some snapshots, where are some detection to our ftp.avast.com/incoming/ for analysis? Try to pack them, it can decrease the final size.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to get single images out of the Time Machine backup. My only option seems to be to restore the entire library, which I'm not going to do. Once I get a few single images, I'll upload them.

Seems like there's no easy way to select individual files from the Time Machine backup of my iPhoto Library. I deleted the oldest TM backups and started a new full system scan. The new scan isn't reporting any problems other than the Fusion VM file. I've run a scan with the Win version of Avast when I have Fusion running and Windows open. Nothing found, so I'm not going to worry about it.
