Title: "Vote Now " PopUp ?
Post by: Abraxas on October 17, 2005, 07:17:35 PM
As I connected to the Internet just now The " a "ball was spinning in my taskbar and I thought nothing of it. The usual virus update . Then a popup appeared not the Blue,(" virus Database has been Updated " ) or Red (" there's been a problem trying to update")  but an Orange " Vote Now For Avast!! "
I've voted already via the thread at the top of this Forum, and then it hit me that is this right  :(.
Sure I love Avast! and think it deserves all the attention it can get. I clicked on the popup menu and was re-directed to the Secure Computing 2006 Awards voting page, which was unavailable at the time.
Then I thought is this right, having the Update/Error popup Tab redirecting me to vote for Avast!. I have already, and gee wizz, I just don't know if it's a great idea to use this method ???
How do other Avast! user's  feel...?

I didn't saw such a window, when my avast! was updating.
But anyway, I think that this is a good idea  ;D

P.S.> I will be watching for the window the next time when avast! is updating  ;D

I think since the iNews pop-up the Secure Computing server can't cope with the load ;D

I wonder if they will get a little suspicious at all this extra activity ;D

This is an extract from the avast web site Linux page http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-for-linux-workstation.html.

avast! 4 for Linux Edition

This will be released next month.

avast! for Linux features an antivirus solution for the popular Linux platform. The version for home users is intended for testing of the operating system and for scanning of hard drive partitions used by Windows operating systems.
So hopefully yo won't have long to wait.

I like this feature also, but of course it would be nice for the server to be working. :-\

It makes me wonder how accurate their voting sytem is when it's not even accessible to the majority of users here (due to their servers likely being overloaded)...   I also couldn't vote today...

But when their system allows me to, I'll most certainly vote for avast! as being my favorite anti-virus solution!   Because avast! is the best!   :D

iNews should be used more often imo. Many other AV companies use such services to announce new outbreaks and so on. I wonder why avast! has it when they almost never use it (last time was almost 2 years ago if i remember correctly)?

Hi Tech:

Definitively, the customer's care of Alwil must be improved substantially.

Besides what it is said here about the news, I can say that I am a distributor of avast! and the mails that I send to Alwil are answered after some days or, directly, they are not answered!!!

The same when we send a suspicius file, we have neither answer, nor even an automatic message to say "thanks".

And finally, sorry about my english  ???

Hire prepaired people is the only way to survive on technical support.

I won't mess two things. This one could have an automated robot to answer.
Better will be hire people to analyse and improve detection.
