Do you mean you're getting rid of Java Environment (and Console) or "plugin" into a browser?

 :)  Hi :

The Sun java version you quoted is extremely outdated and is therefore an
extreme security risk that should be uninstalled ASAP ; not knowing if other
outdated "Versions/Update(s)" of this program MAY be on your computer, it
would be wise to use the FREE "JavaRa" program available from
 http://raproducts.org .

JAVA is totally different to JavaScript and JavaScript doesn't require JAVA to work.

Sun Java j2re1.4.2_03 isn't bad, but it is so very out of date and full of vulnerabilities which could be exploited you would be unwise to retain it.

Ensure you have the latest version of JRE (JAVA Runtime Environment) because older versions can be vulnerable to malware. First remove All Older Versions From Add/Remove Programs.

Then get the latest update from here http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Or JRE version 6 update 13 http://www.majorgeeks.com/Sun_Java_Runtime_Environment_d4648.html
