Avast on Opensuse 12.3
« on: April 21, 2013, 10:17:42 AM »
Hi,

just a short feedback: I just installed Avast for Linux on an 64 bit opensuse 12.3. Worked pretty easy, but here is a few info:

* when I said "rpm -i avast4workstation-1.3.0-1.i586.rpm", it initially failed, because libpango, libpng12 and some others were not installed.
It is pretty easy to install them from the standard suse repositories, but note that -as the rpm states- this is i586, 32 bit. So if you see libpango
et al already installed, you see the 64 bit version. check for the 32 bit version, and you will be fine.

* avast worked fine, but after the update it failed with the infamous "can not initialize avast, engine invalid paramter" error
I searched this forum, and indeed this is already solved:

What is suggested there worked perfect for me. Thank you, avast!
