Avast not running

Hello

I was prompted to update Avast and also that my registration was about to expire.  I did as instructed and on registration got the following error "The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error"

I tried re-installing but still the same.  Tried going back to a restore point but just the same no joy.

Also in the summary current status I press on the fix now button but nothing happens.  Also it says the system is stopped but when I try restarting nothing happens.

Please can you help.

did you use the uninstall tool to remove ?

If not try again using the uninstall tool   http://www.avast.com/en-eu/uninstall-utility"

install again and reboot
