FreeGate proxy
« on: November 07, 2012, 11:38:25 AM »
Gday  :)

I was just wanting some advice on the free proxy service FreeGate Proxy from Dynaweb. Firstly is it worth using a proxy, and is this site & download OK. Avast blocks the download  from us.dongtaiwang.com and i scanned the url with URLVoid.com, IPvoid.com, ScanURLs.com and TrendMicro Site safety  and was OK. This is the download link "http://us.dongtaiwang.com/loc/software/fg/736/fg736p.exe". Im not sure what to do on these sort of things cause of all the contradictions when searching for information. A dumb boxhead welder like myself has no chance of finding and having confidence in info i find. As i have always said " Beleive half of what you see and nothing of what you hear/read ".
If anyone has some info that will help me would be very much apprieciated  :). Any general tips about safe surfing would be of great help aswell.

Cheers  :)

@ Aussiewelder
Please 'modify' your post change the URL from http to hXXp, to break the link and avoid accidental exposure to suspect sites, thanks.

All that aside, what you really have to consider is, if there is any doubt over this software/company would you entrust it with your system.

Why is it that you feel the need to use an anonymous proxy ?
I have never felt the need for one as they say if you aren't doing anything wrong, what have you to hide. But it may also make it harder to configure avast's localhost proxy that is scanning your HTTP web traffic for malware.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

You can download Freegate from

http://download.cnet.com/Freegate/3000-2085_4-10415391.html

Better tools are Ultrasurf or Spotflux or Hotspot Shield or even TOR if you are looking for free ones. Tunnel Bear offers 500MB every month if you want to only browse the web.

VPNs are better than proxy. If you are looking for a paid one, you can get

Avast Secureline
