It shouldn't do as essentially it isn't active, as the More Info (How it works) link says, it optimises the sqlite database files so they load quicker. It also suggests that you run SpeedyFoz every 1-2 weeks, which to me indicates that it isn't active.

Quote
How does it work?

Firefox uses SQLITE databases to store lots of its settings. By the time the databases grow and Firefox starts working slowly. SpeedyFox compacts those databases without loosing any data.

How often should I run SpeedyFox?

Depending on your browsing activity we recommend optimizing your profile once in 1-2 weeks.

Do you mean vacuum places improved?Speedyfox is a little different as vacuum places only defrags place.sqlite.

Actually, it deletes it. :)

Edit: I just realized I responded to a first-time poster bumping a nine month old topic -- posts which are often just spambots.  Sorry.  Feel free to ignore.

The very old tips in this article often cause problems when viewing many websites and rarely speed things up for most users.  Firefox's default values are usually the best ones -- that's why they're the default.  Treat these "how to speed up Firefox" articles you find on the net with a huge grain of salt. They often contain outdated or otherwise bogus information that has gone viral.

Vacuum places improved is a firefox add on that seems to work quite well.

I just use a batch file and sqlite.exe to vacuum all the databases manually as described here (http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2009/07/vacuum-your-firefox-databases-for-better-performance/).

Starting with Firefox 3.6, places.sqlite is vacuumed automatically.
